Publication Fees / APC
Article Processing Contribution (APC)
Pollution and Diseases operates as an independent, peer-reviewed academic journal.
Article Processing Contributions (APC) support the essential infrastructure required to maintain high editorial and scientific standards, including:
· coordination of independent peer review
· editorial and production management
· DOI registration and long-term digital archiving
· professional formatting and technical preparation
· partial language support for accepted manuscripts
· maintenance of the journal’s digital platform
· reinvestment into publication waivers and researcher support initiatives
The journal does not charge submission fees.
APC is requested only after a manuscript has successfully passed peer review and has been formally accepted.
Editorial decisions are entirely independent of an author’s ability to contribute financially.
Differentiated APC Structure
To promote comprehensive global scientific evidence and broad geographic representation of environmental health research, the journal applies a differentiated APC model based on internationally recognized country income classifications.
Standard APC Levels
· High-income countries: 750 EUR
· Upper-middle-income countries: 450 EUR
· Lower-middle-income countries: 250 EUR
· Low-income countries: Full waiver (0 EUR)
Country classifications follow internationally recognized economic indicators.
This structure reflects the journal’s commitment to strengthening the global evidence base in environmental health research while maintaining sustainable editorial operations.
Transparency and Reinvestment
Pollution and Diseases is not structured as a profit-generating enterprise.
A significant portion of APC revenue is reinvested into:
· full and partial waivers
· publication support for researchers working in environmentally affected regions
· language editing assistance for accepted manuscripts
· development of international scientific collaboration initiatives.
The journal’s financial model is designed to sustain scientific infrastructure rather than generate surplus revenue.
Additional Support
Authors working under conditions that significantly limit research resources may be eligible for additional support through the journal’s Research Support Program.
